Praised for their “exquisite playing” and finely detailed interpretations, the Goldmund Quartet has rapidly become one of the leading string quartets of its generation. Recent highlights include international tours, premieres of contemporary works by Sophia Jani and Pascal Schumacher, and a forthcoming Mendelssohn album. Deeply engaged in both performance and education, the Quartet also hosts its own festival and newly launched academy in Bavaria.
Joining them is Taiwanese-born pianist Gloria Chien, acclaimed for her versatility as performer, educator, and presenter. She made her orchestral debut with the Boston Symphony at sixteen and is a frequent collaborator with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. A champion of chamber music, she co-directs Chamber Music Northwest and the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival with violinist Soovin Kim, and founded Chattanooga’s String Theory series. A Steinway Artist and frequent recording artist, Chien brings dynamic artistry and depth to every performance.
“The four musicians unite to form an emotional force that goes straight to the heart. Deeply moving quartet artistry.” – Concerti, EW
“A lot of the success was due to Chien’s super-attentive listening skills. It’s as if she has a pair of antennas in the back of her head.” – Oregon Arts Watch
